3 Work-Life Balance Secrets and How I Manage Everything

Right now I have a 4-month-old and a 4-year-old. I have a lot of competing priorities. I play the role of mom, daughter, wife, business owner, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. This week’s podcast is about how I manage everything I need to do.

3 Work-Life Balance Secrets and How I Manage Everything

1) My 90-Day Planner is Key

I put my personal and professional goals and to-dos on there. Every week I write down what my priorities are professionally and I also keep track of all of my personal to-do’s as well. One of my top strengths is focus, so when I’m focused on business, I’m focused on business.

When I’m focused on my daughter and doing something crafty like doing a pumpkin decorating party, I’m all in. Same with organizing my house, I focus on one thing until it’s done. My planner keeps me on track, and now you can get your very own CCG planner.

2) Being Okay With Getting 1 Thing Done a Day

Before I could keep the house clean and juggle a lot more. With my daughter turning 5, I was getting a lot more work done. She was self-sufficient. I didn’t have to dress her or feed her. Life was getting easier. Then throw another baby in and I had to let stuff go. Do the best you can with what you got. As long as you are taking baby steps and moving forward and making progress. Do one thing a day rather than 10 things a day.

We recently launched our first physical product that happened during my daughter’s first few months of life. It didn’t move fast. The printer was not happy with how long I took to edit and design it and I created a lot more work for them during the Christmas rush, but oh well.

It was going to happen on my time and I wasn’t going to stress out to make things easier for them. This is an example of just being ok with slow growth. Nothing happens overnight anymore. I need my sleep because I get woken up in the middle of the night and have some early mornings.

3) Asking for Help

We have a tendency to take on everything. For me, it gets going around in my head and then I have a breakdown and freak out. Before I had my daughter, I made a list of groceries that someone could always go get so I didn’t need to. Before going to MN, I made a list of things my husband could help with.

Think about what can only you do really well. Honestly, I want to be the one to do the Christmas presents for my family but my husband can email her teacher and tell her she will be missing a week of school. It feels so good to take things off your plate. If you run a business, this could be a virtual assistant, too. In my business, there’s a lot I don’t do because I delegate it to Lor, my virtual assistant.
