I did everything I thought I was supposed to do. I did everything I thought I was supposed to do. Got the degree. Built the career. Earned the salary. On paper, I was successful. But there was one problem: I didn’t actually want the life that came with that version of success anymore. That’s a hard thing to admit when you’ve spent years working toward it. For me, the answer wasn’t throwing it all away. It was using everything I’d learned to build something different. Becoming a mom changed what I wanted from my caree Becoming a mom changed what I wanted from my career. It didn’t make me less ambitious. I still wanted meaningful work. I still wanted to make great money. I still wanted to grow and make an impact. I just wanted something else too: More control over my time.
