4 Much Awaited Twitter Updates You’re Going to Love
It appears Twitter has finally listened to the millions of using Twitter users; soon you’ll be able to express yourself even more within the 140 characters limit. It has been a struggle to post on Twitter with just 140 characters. We’ve had to be very creative with our posts and use programs like Bitly to shorten our links. Well, this new update is going to be very helpful if you are a Twitter lover.
There’s no doubt that the Tweets have grown over time from simple 140-character text messages to messages containing photographs, snapshots, videos, hashtags, and GIFs. We also now have the ability to create polls on Twitter allowing followers to weigh in on the topics you’re interested in, and the ability to share and enjoy Periscope broadcasts. However, the 140 character limit has still remained the norm.

According to Twitter, here’s what else will change:

1. Replies

When replying to a Tweet, @names will no longer count toward the 140-character count. This will make having conversations on Twitter easier and more straightforward, no more penny-pinching your words to ensure your sentence makes sense.

2. Media Attachments

When you add attachments such as photos, GIFs, videos, polls, or Quote Tweets, it will no longer count as characters within your Tweet. More room for your own words!

3. Retweet Yourself

The company will be enabling the Retweet button on your own Tweets, so you can easily Retweet or Quote Tweet yourself when you want to share a new reflection or feel like a really good one went unnoticed.

4. Good-bye, .@

These changes will help simplify the rules around Tweets that start with a username. New tweets that begin with a username will reach all your followers. If you want a reply to be seen by all your followers, you will be able to retweet it to signal that you intend for it to be viewed more broadly.
These social media updates will be available over the coming months. Thank you, Twitter. Time to get tweeting!
