How to Get 10 New Clients in 30 Days
You want to become a coach but don’t know how to get coaching clients consistently. With the right approach and strategy, you can hone your system and build up your client list. I cover all of this and more in this week’s podcast episode. The biggest mistake new career coaches make is talking to one person on a sales call and then that one person doesn’t buy. They think that means they have failed and they aren’t meant to do this. NOT THE TRUTH. You have to talk to a lot of people in the beginning. It is your job to have sales calls. The more people that say yes and that you talk to, the more people you can help!

But in order to have a career coach career, you have to find clients right?!
How To Get 10 New Coaching Clients in 30 Days
1. Identify the number of people you need to speak with in 30 days.
There is always a way to make the math work. Starting a coaching business isn’t based on luck and we’ll see if it will work. You don’t have to hear crickets. There’s a better way. Starting a coaching business with a strategy and a plan and knowing that if you do these tasks, you WILL get results. And if they aren’t the exact results, you take it and tweak and improve until you get the results you want. The only way you fail is if you give up. If you want 10 clients. That means you need to talk to MORE than 10 people. The conversion rate I always use is 25% conversion for sales calls if I want 10 clients in a month. You can’t blindly put a link up and expect people to purchase. We have to personalize our offers with phone calls or zoom calls. If you want 10 clients and have a 25% conversion rate, you need to speak with 40 people during the month or book 40 sales calls. That may seem hard but this is not that hard. This is how I started! Even with another job. And by the way, if you only want 5 clients, you can just charge more or even with 2 clients, this number dramatically decreases. I am just going for 10 so you can see what is possible. And if those 10 pay you $1,000 per month or $1,000 in full for a coaching program, that’s an easy $10K per month.
2. Block out your calendar for calls.
I had sales calls on Mondays and Tuesdays. The rest of the week I worked on building my business. So 40 sales calls per month works out to 10 sales calls per week. For 30-minute calls, you need to block out 5 hours in your calendar per week. That’s it. You can do this! Don’t let your mind tell you that you don’t have time for this. You do have time for this. I have clients in my certification program doing their calls on weekends and evenings. I even did them in the mornings and on my lunch breaks when I was still at my corporate job. The important thing is you have this planned and blocked out in your calendar. You have a calendly link set up and you are daily open for business. Your dream clients are out there right now. You have to go out there and find 10 people to talk to this week. If you don’t have calls, spend those 5 hours reaching out and connecting with people. If you spent 5 hours every single week on outreach, I guarantee you that you would quickly start booking up those 10 spots per week. If this is your goal, you are less picky about who you talk to. Later on we can make a hard application and you can be picky, but in the beginning, talk to EVERYONE that needs help. What’s next? Group coaching. It’s not worth your boss or client threatening to fire you. The late nights. The weekend calls. The can’t sleep nights and the dreadful long drives to work. NOT WORTH IT. Why? Because instead you can control your own salary. You can create a career you love. You can create your own schedule and then change it if you don’t like it You can make your own career choices that make you happy. You can take time off when you want to. And you can look back in twenty years and realize you created this life rather than letting it pass you by.

Today we’re talking about how to get 10 new coaching clients in 30 days, this is exciting. The biggest mistake I see new coaches make is they talk to one person on a sales call. And then that one person doesn’t buy. And they think that means that they have failed. And they aren’t meant to be a coach. But this is just not the truth. And I’m going to teach you what to do instead today. So you have to talk to a lot of people in the beginning, it is your job to have sales calls, the more people that say yes to you and that you talk to the more people that you can help. So this topic is near and dear to my heart.
Because I believe that career coaching is the best career ever. I am so thankful I made the leap myself to launch my own career coaching business way back in 2012, to make more of an impact and to have more time freedom and to do what I love every single day. So I love that I get to set my own schedule. I love that I get to work wherever I want whenever I want. I value flexibility, time, freedom and personal growth. And so I love that as a career coach. I get to give myself space and time each week for learning and growing and reading and listening to podcasts and taking courses. And I know that I also love to spend time with my family, I love to be able to be present for them. And so I love that I don’t have to work all day and all weekend.
I can feel balanced in my work. And that’s what I get to teach my clients to do now. I get to teach my clients in my certification program how to grow a career coaching business with just 15 hours per week. That’s all I work, no more than 15 sometimes even less than 10. No hustle in my day, no stress in my day, lots of sleep, lots of rest, joy and peace and fulfillment. Also while doing work, I love that impacts others. And that really is my definition of career fulfillment, pursuing my purpose and passion, leaving a legacy for my family and making an impact with the work I do. So yeah, you’re like Anna, that’s all great.
We love that you love career coaching, but I can’t find any clients. It’s like crickets. So in order to have a career coaching career like I have, you have to be able to find clients and generate revenue, right. So that’s why this topic is near and dear to my heart because we got to get you some clients so that you can have this fulfilling career that I love, that I want you to have as well, too. So let’s dive into the topic of the day. I’m gonna give you two steps today. There are two steps to get 10 new coaching clients in 30 days. And let’s start with the first step.
The first step is we have to identify the number of people that you need to speak with in 30 days. So before we even can start to make a plan or make this strategy we actually need to have a goal number of people that we’re going to speak to because like I said in the very beginning, the biggest mistake new coaches make is they talk to one person on the sales call, that person doesn’t buy and they think they failed and they’re not meant to do this and they quit.
You can’t quit. You have to talk to a lot of people in the beginning like it’s your job. So there’s always a way to make the math work. So starting a coaching business isn’t based on luck, or we’ll just see if this works out. You don’t have to hear any crickets when you launch your business. There’s a better way, starting a coaching business with a strategy and a plan and knowing what to do and if you do those tasks, you will get results. And if they aren’t the exact results you take it and tweak it and improve it until you get the results you want. The only way you fail is if you give up.
This is why I love of the coaching business and helping you all start coaching businesses, because it’s proven, and there’s a strategy and there’s a plan, and it works, it’s gonna get you results, you don’t have to cross your fingers. So let me tell you how you can get results today. If you want 10 clients, that means you need to talk to more than 10 people, we can’t just assume everyone we’re going to talk to is going to buy, it’s just not going to happen.
So we have to figure out what our conversion rate is. Even if you don’t like math, we can do this, right? So conversion rate really is like, what’s that rate that you’re converting into a sale. So I’m just going to give you the number that I think you should use, this is what I’ve used since the very beginning, since I started in 2012. I’ll always use 25% as a conversion rate when I’m calculating numbers and doing math and figuring out how many sales calls that I need.
And by the way, I do this myself too, because I do sales calls, too. So that means if I want 10 clients in a month, I have to figure out how many clients I actually need to talk to based off that 25% conversion rate. So a mistake people make is they just put links out and expect people to purchase off sales pages, off these PayPal invoice orders or something. Instead, you have to personalize your offer with a phone call or a zoom call, especially when you’re getting started, we’re not just going to send links around expecting people to buy, we have to get on a call with them and personalize the offer to what they need.
So if you want 10 clients, and you’re expecting a 25% conversion rate, that means you need to speak with 40 people during the month or book 40 sales calls that month. Now, that may seem hard. But this is not hard. This is how I started actually, these are a lot of the numbers I used when I started even I had another day job as well. So by the way, if you only want five clients, you can just charge more or even two clients, the number of sales calls that you need dramatically decreases.
So if you don’t need 10 clients, just lower the dollar amount or increase your prices. So you don’t have to talk to as many people. But the numbers I’m working on right now, we want 10 clients, I’m not even talking about pricing right now that can be a later podcast if you guys want. But we’re talking about getting 10 clients having a 25% conversion rate. And that means I need to book 40 sales calls for my month.
And this is what I was talking about, this is when you have a plan, when you have a strategy, when you know what you need to do, there is a way and you’re gonna get results. It’s a numbers game. Honestly, as a coach, this is a numbers game, you just got to book 40 sales calls. And you got to do the tasks in your calendar that are going to help you book those sales calls. And if you do that, and if you book sales calls, you’re gonna grow a coaching business, and help a lot of people and have an amazing career. So let’s dive in. And also, like I said, we you can change the number of clients that you need.
Like I said, I’m going for 10. So you can see what is possible. Because if those 10 people pay you 1000 per month or $1,000 in full for a coaching program, that’s an easy $10,000 per month and I love working on with that number. I love helping our career coaches build their six figure businesses or build 10,000 months repeatedly, consistently, every single month. All of that is totally possible. And I’ve just outlined exactly how you can do that here today. So the first step is to identify the number of people you need to speak with in 30 days. If we want 10 clients, we have a 25% conversion rate, we need to talk to 40 people. That is step one.
So now that we know how many people we want to talk to the second step is to block out your calendar for these calls. So when I was doing this, I blocked out sales calls on Mondays and Tuesdays. And the rest of the week I just worked on other things in my business, admin, checking emails, social media, you know all of the other things that go with growing a business, but my sales conversations were on Mondays and Tuesdays. So you want to make sure you’re batching your time and you’re keeping your sales calls only at certain times of the week, because I know there’s a lot of other things that happen when it comes to growing your business.
So 40 sales calls per month works out to 10 sales calls per week. There’s four weeks in the month. So every week we need to have 10 sales calls to reach our goals. Now these are 30 Minute Calls. These are not coaching calls, I can do a whole other podcast on what should go into the calls if you want let me know. Send me a message on Instagram. If you want me to cover that on a future podcast, but these are short, these are 30 Minute calls. They’re not coaching calls. We’re listening to what our potential client needs on that call. And then we’re personalizing our offer at the end. And that is providing value and really helping our clients in those 30 Minute calls. So that means you only need to block out five to six hours in your calendar per week to have these 10 calls. That’s it, you can do this.
So don’t let your mind tell you that you don’t have time for 10 sales calls per week, you do have time for this, this is your job. This is part of business is selling. And you learned so much from these sales calls. Like I said, I did this. I did 8 to 10 sales calls per week. And I learned so much. That’s why I know what is going through your mind right now. I know, every thought. I know my ideal client front back. I know what keeps them up at night, I know so much because I did so many of these calls. And that is why I recommend all of my career coach certification clients have these calls, because they just learn so much from their clients.
So I have clients in our certification program doing their calls on weekends, sometimes they’re doing them in the evening hours as well, if they have a day job. I know I even did them sometimes in the mornings. I was in San Diego. So I was on Pacific Coast time. So I could book some calls with people who are on like East Coast time. And so that worked out really well. So you have to be creative. I know I also was doing these calls during lunch breaks when I was in still in corporate as well. And as you do these calls, they get a lot easier. And so I really could just like stop for lunch break, go to my car, have a quick call and like go back to work because it just becomes a habit.
And you know what to say and you know the structure and the agenda of the call that you basically do it in your sleep. The important thing here is that you have this planned out and blocked in your calendar, these five to six hours. So you also want to use a service like Calendly. So you have a Calendly link all set up and blocked out at those times so that you are open for business, we have to put ourselves out there, we have to put our calendar out there and allow people to actually click it and sign up to talk to you. And so your dream clients are out there right now, you have to go out there find 10 people to talk to this week, if you don’t have those 10 sales calls booked, then spend five hours reaching out and connecting with people. Like right before this, I was on LinkedIn, just messaging people in connecting and posting what I’m doing.
And I was also in a Facebook group and I was also on Instagram this morning. So spending that time the five hours per week, reaching out doing outreach, connecting with people, and finding people who are struggling with that problem that you know how to help them with. That’s our goal. These are not, you know, these are not salesy, sleazy sales calls, these are 10 calls with people who need your help, and you know how to help that like 10 potential opportunities to impact someone every single week. So I guarantee you that you will quickly start booking up those 10 spots per week, if you spend those five hours just reaching out and connecting with people. So if this is your goal, to have 10 new clients per month, you also have to be less picky about who you talk to. So later on, we can make a hard application you can be picky, you can decide who you want to talk to, you can make the questions on the application very, you know, get you can get the exact type of ideal client that you want.
But in the beginning, we got to talk to everyone that needs our help, because you’re going to learn you’re going to learn about their objections, you’re going to learn about their problems and their challenges. You’re going to learn about their goals, their dreams and their desires. You’re going to learn so much from having these conversations. We’re not going to say no to everyone, we’re going to take the call. And eventually you’re probably like, Okay, I know what’s next. Because if I actually fill 10 people per month, and how am I going to actually fulfill my coaching to these people. So the next step really is group coaching. So we talk more about this in my career coach certification program.
But first, I really want you and all my clients to master one on one individual coaching first because it really is the fastest way to get started to get those 10k months to build a six figure coaching business fast. Because I really truly believe that you can make a lot of money doing work you love. So I love identifying people’s passions and helping them see how they can turn those passions into money. Like when you think back to when we were younger like my career counselors had no idea the possibilities that awaited me when I was in high school in college like to create my own career coach certification program to create my own blog and turn that into revenue and have that be my full time income that supports our whole family to be able to travel and work like my career counselors had no idea.
