4 Ways To Boost Your Chances of Getting Hired
Most of us already have an idea about what our dream job would be. We’re hustling and working hard towards that dream job as best we can and doing everything we know to get hired. No matter what industry your dream job is in, there are some common factors which dramatically increase your chances of getting hired. If you want your dream job as soon as possible, let’s cover some steps you can take right now.

4 Ways To Boost Your Chances of Getting Hired

1. Meet All Qualifications in the Job Description

You may not think you need to meet all the qualifications in order to apply for a job, but if you do meet all the qualifications, you will put yourself well ahead. This is why you need to think carefully about taking some online course or volunteering to help you meet every single qualification for your dream job.
For example, if you have a passion for fashion and enjoy designing intriguing looks, you’ll want to get experience working at a fashion company such as The Gap, Charlotte Russe or Armani Exchange so you can meet the minimum qualifications of a fashion merchandiser. You’ll also want to build your portfolio to reflect your creative vision and experience gained from an apprenticeship or internship. Another way to meet qualifications is education so you should also investigate fashion merchandising and fashion design degree options at a university near you. Wondering what you can do with your degree?

2. Do Your Research

There is nothing more off-putting to an employer than a potential candidate who hasn’t done research on the industry and company that they are hoping to work for. Usually, this becomes obvious around the interview stage. If you are being interviewed, you have to know what you are talking about. Learn as much as you can about the industry and your future role. You should also know everything you can about the company you are hoping to work for. The more you know, the more impressive you can be. There is no limit to how much research you can do to increase your chances of success.

3. Take Yourself and Your Search Seriously

You need to make your job search a priority. This isn’t just something you do in your spare time to find the job of your dreams. You have to put everything into it. This means that the mornings, nights and weekends you devote to your job search or learning to meet the qualifications (see #1).  You also need to make sure you take yourself seriously in the interview and show the real you in the interview as quickly as possible First impressions matter – especially in an interview setting. To boost your chances of getting hired, practice introducing yourself and talking about your strengths and accomplishments to friends, family and strangers you meet. You have to be ready and serious to sell yourself. This is not a time to be humble!

4. Be Truly Confident About Being Different

Ultimately, your confidence level is what sells you in the interview. If you feel you have low confidence, it might be time to work on improving it. This can easily be done, no matter who you are. Remember: confidence is not something you have or don’t have. Instead, it is more like a skill and anyone can develop it.
The most important thing you can do is focus on your strengths and your skills. What makes you awesome and what do you want the interviewer to know about you? Focus on what you bring to the table at that interview, not on what you don’t have. Your experience and skills make you different. You are the only one like you. Be proud!
With the right attitude, getting hired is within your reach.
