Work Life Balance: How To Enhance Work Performance with Beauty Sleep

What parts specifically? According to experts, sleep allows your body to repair the parts of your brain that holds your memories and the brain cells that affect your cognitive and concentration levels. Without sleep, you can suffer from attention deficit, experience memory and retention loss, and struggle trying to grasp difficult concepts. Sleep deprivation also strongly affects the way someone completes difficult assignments and can even contribute to a loss in creativity. Maybe that’s why in an effort to increase productivity within the workplace, some employers are now allowing 20 minute power naps in the office.

But not all employers are so kind. So try to make sure to get to bed in order to get the recommended 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night. While this may be tough for working girls with families and for those with other obligations, try your very best to organize a schedule that permits some good beauty sleep each night. For those that are natural insomniacs and struggle going to bed at night, following these tips below to learn how to falling asleep faster:

  • Try to create a constant “sleep routine” so that you can condition your body to learn when it’s time to hit the hay. This could include a routine such as removing your make up, taking a shower, lathering your body with lotion, and brushing your teeth in the same order each night right before you go to sleep.
  • Do not drink caffeine or exercise 3 hours before your scheduled sleep time. These are stimulants that will keep you awake.
  • Avoid taking short naps after work.
  • Avoiding surfing the web right before bed. It also acts as a stimulant and will reactive your mind and alertness according to some researchers.
  • Wear comfortable sleepwear. Tight, constricting attire or clothes that are too skimpy or too warm can affect the way you sleep.
  • Take a hot steamy bath to unwind and become relaxed.
  • Read a book. Nothing that is too interesting that will make you want to stay up all night finishing it, but something that will make your eyelids heavy and put you to sleep.
