I did everything I thought I was supposed to do. I did everything I thought I was supposed to do. Got the degree. Built the career. Earned the salary. On paper, I was successful. But there was one problem: I didn’t actually want the life that came with that version of success anymore. That’s a hard thing to admit when you’ve spent years working toward it. Becoming a mom changed what I wanted from my caree Becoming a mom changed what I wanted from my career. It didn’t make me less ambitious. I still wanted meaningful work. I still wanted to make great money. I still wanted to grow and make an impact. I just wanted something else too: More control over my time.
