I know there are a lot of people struggling with finances right now. I know there are many small businesses that have had to shut down and lay off employees because of COVID-19.

It’s so tough to not have enough money to pay your bills. And feel like you can’t provide for your family. I’ve been there too.

In 2015, my husband and I were on the verge of closing our business because I was burnt out and not bringing in enough revenue to support our family.

But in 2016, I did something that thankfully turned my business and my entire life around.

I did something that allowed me to generate more income every single month.

I did something that gave me more freedom to hang with my kids at the park during the day and allowed me to take a 3-month maternity leave from my business without losing a penny.

And I did something that continues today bringing in a steady stream of income (and even growing) during an economic crisis and pandemic like COVID-19.

So…what is a membership business?

A membership site is where a customer pays you a monthly fee or annual fee to get the content you deliver on a monthly basis. The great part about membership sites is that you can get a monthly recurring income.  Which means less launching every month.

Recurring revenue is something you want to build in your business. Because it is predictable and can be counted on in the future. Having recurring revenue in my business allowed me to take a 3-month maternity leave when my daughter was born. Getting paid monthly allows me to spend more time working on my passions and spend more time with the people I love. Since I now have two daughters, I need double the time to hang out with my girls! 🙂

If you can grow your site up to enough members, it’s also a lot more fun to run your business. Because you know your expenses are covered. It’s a fun business to have because you can provide a ton of value to a lot of people at once.

Membership sites are for people who want to make a big impact and reach a lot of people. You may not want to do as much one on one consulting or individual coaching but you like teaching. For me, I wanted to do more training internationally online and less one-on-one consulting.
