The Best Career Advice Angela Venuti Received
Keep reading to be inspired by one of the REAL classy and ambitious ladies who are driving change, inspiring others and making the world a better place. The more we know that other women are making the impossible possible, the more empowered we will be that we can do the same.
We were ecstatic to see how excited you all were to read about our top 20 Classy Career Girls of 2015 so we wanted to dive even deeper into these working women making a difference.
Meet Angela Venuti, a creative arts non-profit professional, focusing on fundraising and development. We love that this recognition just came out this week highlighting Angela’s work at the Museum of Photographic Arts. Angela wanted to search for alternative admissions policies after seeing would-be visitors come to the door, look at the $8 ticket price, and leave. This girl is looking for alternatives and not OK with the status quo. That is what makes her a Classy Career Girl and we couldn’t be happier to feature here so you can get to know her as well.
Name: Angela Venuti

Title: Membership Officer at Museum of Photographic Arts
What is the best advice anyone has ever given to you?
Learn everyone’s name! From the janitors to the assistants, to the board members and executive directors. Everyone you meet has some influence in some capacity, and being a well-rounded employee means you know the value of internal relationships as well as external relationships.
What does success mean to you?
It means so many things to different types of professionals! To me, I was surprised and excited to reach a certain level at the point of my life that I did. I was ambitious and wanted my work to influence the industry to make a difference. Now that I am presenting at national and international conferences, being a guest on podcasts and writing articles, I feel honored to share my professional experience with others. Most importantly, since most of my work focuses on accessibility and inclusion in museums, I have the opportunity to share advice to spread these ideas.
What motivates you to work hard?
My passion in life is art and seeing how influential the artistic process can be at all stages of life. Sharing with other museums about how to make all of their exhibitions and collections welcoming and available to as many people as possible is what makes me wake up every day.
What were some pivotal moments in your career and life and how did they affect you?
The opportunity to proactively create a solution in my organization. A couple of years ago, we discussed the chance of changing our admissions model, in which case I worked hard behind the scenes to think about how that would affect our membership program. From there, my time spent researching trends and conducting interviews paid off to get leadership’s attention and launch a new type of membership program.
What are your goals? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would love to continue making art available to everyone on a bigger scale and through community-based efforts. I see myself incorporating engagement opportunities as part of larger accessible fundraising initiatives as a leader in 5 years.
