]]>The post Meet Caitie Barber: The Tech Career Coach Who’s Changing Lives appeared first on Classy Career Girl.
]]>I’m so excited about today’s post. I’m bringing back one of my favorite guests, the incredible Caitie Barber. If you missed her the first time, she’s an amazing tech career coach specializing in helping burnt-out women in tech make amazing career moves and start living the luxurious life they deserve.
Since we chatted last about Caitie’s journey to becoming a coach, she’s been on fire. Business is booming and she’s been racking up wins for her clients left and right. Let’s dive in and discover what she’s been up to!
Well, Anna, it’s been a wild year! Graduating from the Classy Career Girl® Certified Career Coach program was a game-changer. I’ve helped so many women revamp their careers, break that salary ceiling, and finally get what they’re worth. It’s honestly the most rewarding work. Oh, and who can forget that reel that went viral? It was insane!
Anna: So, Caitie, lots has changed since you graduated. How has the job search landscape shifted in the tech world, and what should our listeners know?
Caitie: Being a Tech Career Coach is always evolving, and that includes the way to help people find jobs. In 2024, you’ve got to be proactive. Think outside the traditional job boards – there are tons of niche sites and communities out there for different tech areas. Also, networking still counts! Connect directly with hiring managers in your target field. Get creative about how you introduce yourself – a quick Loom video showcasing your skills can really break through the noise.
Anna: Remote work is huge now. Any tips on how to ace that angle during the job hunt?
Caitie: Absolutely! Highlight your self-starter abilities and remote work experience – whether it was a past job, volunteer project, or even setting up a home office. Show that you’re tech-savvy, organized, and amazing at communication. If you don’t have direct remote experience, get creative with how you showcase those ‘remote-friendly’ skills.
Anna: We know everything changes so fast in tech. How do you help clients future-proof their careers?
Caitie: It’s all about upskilling and staying curious! Explore hot technologies and trends. Even if you don’t end up specializing in them, showing that you’re always learning makes you more valuable. Also, don’t ignore industries outside tech! Think healthcare, insurance – they’re adopting new tech all the time.
Anna: What gives you the edge, Caitie? You understand how it works from both sides of the job market!
Caitie: That’s so true! My recruiting background helps me tailor coaching strategies uniquely. I know exactly what makes candidates stand out, from resume keywords to how they answer those tricky interview questions.
Anna: Okay, time to brag a little. Share a client story that makes you super proud.
Caitie: There’s one that stands out! I worked with a graphic designer who’d applied for her dream job and got rejected. It crushed her. A year later, she reached out – this time, we revamped her approach completely. She nailed the interview, and got the job with a 35K raise and amazing benefits! It’s about persistence and being smart about your job hunt.
Anna: Lastly, we have to talk about your Instagram explosion! 200 to 20k followers! What happened and what advice do you have for other career coaches trying to build their presence?
Caitie: [Caitie shares her insights on viral posts, the importance of authenticity, and tips on how coaches can effectively leverage social media]

]]>The post Scaling Secrets: How to Expand Your Coaching Business Rapidly appeared first on Classy Career Girl.
]]>One of the biggest questions I get is how I find time to podcast consistently while running my career coaching business. The answer is twofold: a commitment to consistency and some strategic time management.
Consistency is everything. My podcast audience expects new content weekly, and my coaching clients know I’ll always be there for them. It’s a non-negotiable part of building trust and success. But, I’ll be honest, it’s not always easy. That’s why I’ve got some strategies I want to share.
Before I dive into tips, I’m so excited to announce that a new cohort of my career coach certification program is opening soon! If you’re passionate about helping people build fulfilling careers, this might just be what you need to take your own work in a new direction.
https://www.classycareergirl.com/apply
As coaches, we often find ourselves stuck juggling everything on our own. But consistent revenue generation and business growth require us to shift our mindset.
Here’s the thing: not every task you do is worth your hourly rate as a coach! That’s why I encourage you to focus your time on revenue-generating activities: things like sales calls, creating (and selling) digital products, or even speaking events.
Know where you excel, and understand where your clients see the most value so you can refine your offerings. It might be that your brilliance lies in one-on-one, but group coaching sessions could become a new revenue stream.
And let’s talk about outsourcing. It’s honestly been revolutionary for my business. Hiring a virtual assistant took administrative tasks off my plate and opened up my schedule for what I do best. Don’t be afraid to delegate!
The next step is standardizing your process. I know as coaches we get so caught up in the customization, but scaling your business means replicating what works. Checklists, standardized workflows, and investing in tech that streamlines your operations all pay off in the long run.
This leads me to diversification of services. One-on-one coaching is amazing, but what about digital products for those not ready for that level of investment? Maybe group coaching brings in additional revenue.
The idea is to meet clients at different stages of their journey while expanding your own opportunities.
Scaling secrets summary:
I. Assessing Your Current Situation
Let’s be honest – not all of your daily tasks are created equal! Before you can change, you need to analyze where your time and energy go. Here’s how to start:
II. Outsourcing and Delegation
One of the smartest ways to reclaim your time is to stop trying to do it all yourself. Here’s what you need to consider:
III. Creating Systems and Processes
Your business will only scale if you stop reinventing the wheel each time. Invest in creating structure:
IV. Diversifying Services
While one-on-one coaching is powerful, adding different service models can significantly boost your revenue and allow you to reach a wider audience:
If any of this resonates, I highly encourage you to apply to my career coach certification program. It’s a fantastic way to develop the skills and mindset to make a real difference in people’s lives (and your business!)

]]>The post Sales Techniques for New Coaches appeared first on Classy Career Girl.
]]>It’s February, folks! We’re already halfway through the first quarter, and that means it’s time to shift gears from planning to execution. While the strategic groundwork is crucial, true impact comes from putting those plans into action. And for new coaches looking to attract clients and grow their practice, that action hinges on effective sales techniques.
Remember, the more you sell, the more lives you can impact. So, let’s ditch the summer slump and get a head start with some lightning-speed sales techniques designed specifically for new coaches like you!
Forget impersonal email links. In today’s fast-paced world, genuine connection matters more than ever. Hop on a Zoom call with potential clients, ditch the script, and have a real conversation. Use scheduling tools like Calendly to make the process seamless, and offer upfront value by sharing a helpful tip or resource related to their goals. Take things a step further by walking them through your unique coaching system or a certified system you use, giving them a tangible glimpse into the transformation they can expect.
It’s tempting to launch into your sales pitch, but resist the urge! Remember, effective sales start with listening. Show genuine interest in your potential client’s challenges and aspirations. Ask thought-provoking questions that go beyond superficial small talk. This not only demonstrates your expertise but also fosters a deeper connection and understanding, building trust and rapport.
People are visual creatures. Don’t just tell them, show them! Having a professionally designed PDF or presentation ready to go can visually demonstrate your coaching process, highlight key benefits, and leave a lasting impression. Walk them through the visuals, explaining each step and how it contributes to their desired outcome. Remember, visuals enhance understanding and engagement, making your message more impactful.
Let’s be real, price is a major factor in any buying decision. Don’t shy away from discussing investment options. Provide clear and transparent pricing structures, but also offer flexibility to accommodate different budget levels. Consider packages, payment plans, or even a free introductory session to make your services more accessible.
It’s easy to get caught up in listing all the features of your coaching program. But remember, people don’t buy features, they buy transformation. Shift your focus to selling the benefits and value your coaching will bring to their lives or businesses. Highlight how your program will address their specific challenges, help them achieve their goals, and ultimately improve their well-being or bottom line. Speak their language, focus on their desired outcomes, and show them how your coaching is the key to unlocking their full potential.
Remember, these are just five lightning-speed sales techniques to get you started. The world of sales is fast-paced and ever-evolving, so be prepared to adapt and refine your approach based on your experiences and audience. The key is to take action, experiment, and learn from each interaction. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and put yourself out there. The more you practice, the more confident and effective you’ll become.
So, are you ready to take your coaching practice to the next level? Implement these techniques, keep learning and improving, and watch your client base soar! And remember, I’m always here to cheer you on. Share your experiences, ask questions, and let’s continue this conversation in the comments below. Together, let’s make this year your most impactful and successful one yet!

]]>Juggling kids, laundry, and a side hustle? Been there, mama! You dream of making a real impact as a coach, but the thought of dropping major dough on ads makes your eyes water faster than spilled juice boxes. But guess what, superwoman? You can ditch the credit card and build a thriving coaching biz with some smart strategies – all while keeping nap time sacred.
Forget the Phonebook, Embrace the “Like” Button:
Gone are the days of awkward sales calls (hello, flashbacks to telemarketing!). The magic lies in genuine connection. Remember that mom who commented on your “Mompreneur Motivation” post? Slide into her DMs (virtually, of course) and offer a quick pep talk. See someone announce a career change? Send a supportive message and see if you can guide them. It’s not about being salesy, it’s about building relationships and showing you care.
Feeling Tongue-Tied? Scripts to the Rescue!
Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Networking can feel intimidating, but fret no more! Use these handy scripts to craft personalized messages that break the ice:
Remember, consistency is key. Block out 15 minutes each day to connect with others (think of it as your “networking power nap”). Make a list of potential connections and track your progress. Soon, you’ll be amazed at the amazing people you meet!
Testimonials: Your Secret Weapon (No Super Suit Required!)
People trust people. That’s why powerful testimonials are your secret weapon for attracting clients. Offer a free “Mom Boss Breakthrough Session” in exchange for honest feedback. Then, hare these gems on your website, social media, or even do a quick video interview with your client-turned-fan. Remember, their success story is your secret marketing magic.
Freebies: The Candy Jar of Lead Generation:
Who doesn’t love a freebie? They’re like the candy jar at the store checkout – irresistible! But ditch the lollipops and offer high-value resources that solve real mom problems. Think downloadable “Juggling Schedules Like a Boss” cheat sheets, or a mini-course on “Taming the Tech Monster: Streamlining Your Mom Biz.” The goal? Show you’re the expert who gets it, and nurture leads into clients who rave about you (think of them as your cheerleaders!).
Bonus Tip: Variety is the Spice of the Biz Life!
Don’t get stuck in a freebie rut, mama! Keep things fresh by cycling through different offerings on social media. Maybe this week it’s a “Conquer Your Mom Guilt” workbook, next week a “Mastering Meal Planning” webinar. Track what resonates and adapt your strategy. Remember, your first freebie might not be your golden ticket, but with a little experimentation, you’ll find the magic formula that attracts your ideal clients.
Building a business takes time and effort, just like potty training (we’ve all been there!). Don’t get discouraged; celebrate every win, no matter how small. Did you score a new connection? Woohoo! Did a client rave about your freebie? Do a happy dance! Soon, you’ll have the momentum of a mama on a mission, empowering others and building a biz that makes you proud. So grab your coffee (or sippy cup, no judgment!), put on your coaching cape, and get ready to make a difference! You’ve got this!
P.S. I’ve got a brand new LIVE Workshop called “Become a Career Coach” happening March 12th.

]]>The world saw a polished facade: the frequent flyer miles, the prestigious Charleston and DC commutes, the power suits that spoke of success in the corporate world. But beneath the surface, a different story unfolded. I was drowning in the quicksand of stress, my spirit suffocating under the weight of burnout and unhappiness.
The Cracks in the Facade:
Miscarriages, like cruel twists of fate, chipped away at my hope, leaving behind a hollowness that echoed within. The pressure to conform, to fit the mold of corporate success, squeezed the life out of me. I found myself overweight, unhealthy, and desperately yearning for something more meaningful. The suits, once symbols of ambition, now felt like a costume suffocating my true self.
Taking the Leap:
The decision to prioritize my well-being and happiness was daunting. It meant putting motherhood on hold (temporarily, I fiercely promised myself!), committing to getting healthy, and chasing a vision that felt more like a whisper than a concrete plan. Nights and weekends became my battlegrounds, where I poured my heart and soul into building a blog, crafting a course, and nurturing the seed of a dream that promised a different future.
Trading Briefcases for Balance:
Going part-time in the corporate world felt like a risky tightrope walk. But with each tentative step, the ground beneath me began to solidify. Event hosting, networking talks, and 1-on-1 coaching sessions started popping up, their initial scarcity gradually blossoming into a steady stream. The monthly revenue, initially a trickle, slowly morphed into a comforting flow.
Beyond the Numbers:
But the true measure of success went far beyond the financial figures. I was building a community, fueled by passion and purpose. Every webinar, every coaching session, was a tiny victory, a brick laid on the path towards a life that resonated with my soul. The connections forged, the lives touched, the transformations witnessed – these were the treasures that truly enriched me.
The Juggling Act:
The journey wasn’t a fairytale. There were moments of doubt, stumbles along the way, and the ever-present challenge of balancing the demands of a growing business with the joys (and sometimes, let’s be honest, the chaos!) of motherhood. But with each juggling act, I discovered a newfound resilience. Carving out time for self-care, embracing flexibility, and learning to prioritize became my guiding principles.
From Suits to Sweatpants:
The transformation wasn’t just about replacing power suits with sweatpants (although, let’s be honest, those comfy clothes did play a part!). It was about shedding the expectations of others, embracing my authentic self, and defining success on my own terms. It was about trading the pressure cooker of corporate life for the messy, beautiful tapestry of a fulfilling existence.
Your Story Starts Now:
If you’re reading this and find yourself resonating with the echoes of my story – the feeling of being stuck, the yearning for something more – I want you to know that change is possible. It might not be easy, it might not be linear, but with courage, commitment, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, you can create a life that nourishes your soul and sparks joy. My journey from soul crushing corporate to motherhood and career coaching success may seem unconventional, but it’s a testament to the power of believing in yourself and chasing your dreams, even when they seem impossible.

]]>I did not have Social media when I started over a decade ago!
I did a weekly blog post, eventually some twitter posts and a FB page. Oh, I also did something called instant teleseminars, but we won’t talk about that!
It all started with this blog and it is still the foundation of the entire CCG brand.
But now you can go live on social media and you can quickly set up a zoom call to get people interested in what you have. The barrier to entry is non-existent, it just a matter of executing.
There are a number of different social media platforms that you can use to reach your target audience. Some of the most popular platforms for coaches include Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. (And TikTok needs to be in the mix too, but I haven’t not mastered that, yet so I won’t pretend like I know what I’m doing on there.)
Each of these platforms has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose the ones that are right for you.
And here’s a quick tip: don’t try to be everywhere all at once! That is a recipe for disaster! Trust me you will get burned out and you won’t get the results you want. Instead pick ONE platform and create content specifically for that platform and audience.
Once you feel like you have that one platform dialed in, you can expand out.
Before you start posting on social media, it’s important to do some preparation. This includes:
Connect with your audience:
Once you’ve done your prep work, you’re ready to start posting. But it’s important to remember that social media is a two-way street. You need to be engaging with your audience and building relationships with them. This means replying to comments, answering questions, and participating in conversations.
Make your audience aware:
Why does someone need your product? Why do they need to work with a career coach? What steps are your clients making that they are missing? What are your client results and stories?
I have to give a shout out to Stu McLaren’s Membership Experience for really helping me get clarity on these types of posts and seeing how they fit into the big picture.
P.S. Save the Date: March 12th
I’ve got something special coming your way to help you leverage these social media secrets. I’m still putting the finishing touches on it, but mark your calendar now, MARCH 12th.
