Work Holiday Gift Poll and $45 CSN Stores Card Giveaway! **Closed**

**This giveaway is closed.  Congrats to Deb Andersonwho is our big winner!!**Since I received so many great ideas from all of you about how to unwind after a busy week, I have another question for you.  Do you give a Christmas present or Christmas cards to your boss and co-workers?  I am really curious as to what is appropriate and what everyone else does.  I work with 15-20 people that I could potentially give a present too but I don’t want my paycheck to disappear buying presents for all my co-workers.  I also don’t want to look like I am trying to buy my way to a promotion or accidentally forget someone and have it affect my working relationship with them.

I will be featuring your responses on a future post and one lucky reader will win a $45 CSN Stores gift card to buy presents for anyone (not just your boss).  CSN has 200+ stores which have a huge selection of home products from barstools to cookware and even shoes and handbags.   This would be a great way to get started on your holiday gift shopping!

To enter:

2) Become a google friend connect, email or RSS subscriber of Classy Career Girl and leave a comment.

I definitely think that it depends on the corporate culture there and how long you've been at the company.

I just started a new job and I would likely do cards but not gifts for the co-workers i work with on a daily basis and maybe like a Starbucks gift card for my boss.

As for 'real' gifts, and for a number of co-workers – A) that might not be acceptable. B) Like you said, do you really want your paychq to deplete like that? I mean, it'll likely just be small, non-meaningful stuff so some kind & personal words in a card is just as good or better!

  2. Melanie says:

I usually don't 'buy' anything, but I think something homemade like cookies or candy is a nice thought…

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I am so curious to see what everyone else says! Great question!

I had only just started at my job last year just before Christmas and so I didn't feel it was appropriate to really get gifts for co-workers. We do however do a gift exchange and I think it's a great way to get everyone involved without having to buy a gift or a card for all those in the office.

I plan on giving cards to the 10 or so people in my office that I've become close with but I don't think there will be any gift giving. Like you said, it's just too much money to spend!

I am the boss, and don't expect a gift.
I try to host a holiday party, or give cash bonuses before the Christmas holiday.

sometimes I do, but I like to make them meaningful, not just cute little "things" I pick up. I want the recipient to know that I thought of them when I saw it!

I'm self employed so no need to although i I did work a public job I probably would as long as its not a real big environment like walmart or something def. couldn't afford that many coworkers something… and maybe your typical gifts for a woman or a man body washes, or maybe even hand soaps or whatever comes to mind at the moment.
